ASD Assessment - Age under 6  

Typical Format:

  • Initial Parent Meeting: 1 hour (may not be applicable)
  • Parent Interview: 2 hours
  • Child Interview: 2 hours
  • SLP Assessment: 1.5-3 hours
  • Cognitive Testing: 1-2 hours
  • Feedback: 1 hour
  • Report Writing and Scoring: 5-7 hours
  • SLP report writing: 1.5-2 hours

*Please note that this is only an estimate, time will vary based on individual needs and the complexity of the assessment.

There are 3 components to a private ASD assessment for children under 6. All three parties must agree on the diagnosis in order to obtain an ASD diagnosis. Registered associates at all three of our clinic locations can complete the first and second components of the assessment:

  1. Psychology
  2. Speech Language
  3. Pediatrics*

*Have you been referred to a paediatrician to query autism?  If not, you will need to ask your family doctor to refer you to a paediatrician. ABLE Clinic has partnered with Autism Integrated Medical Services (AIMS) at the Pacific Autism Family Network site (our Richmond location) to offer all three required disciplines at one location.

ASD Assessment with Child Psychiatrist  

Typical Format:

  • 1.5 hour Child interview in person
  • 2 hour Parent interview by video
  • Feedback: 1 hour by video or phone
  • Report

If required by the clinician, there could be an additional appointment and charge for a cognitive test to be done.
