Dr. Glen Davies, R. Psych:
Dr. Glen Davies is a Registered Psychologist and Director of ABLE Developmental Clinic. Specializing in clinical child psychology, he provides assessment, counselling and consulting services for a broad range of child, youth, and family difficulties.
Dr. Todd Mason, R. Psych.:
Dr. Todd Mason is a Registered Psychologist with a specialization in clinical child psychology. He provides cognitive-behavioural therapy, parent behaviour training, family therapy, and consultation to parents and schools. He is a professional advisor to the Learning Disabilities Association of BC.
Dr. Mark Bailey, R. Psych.:
Dr. Mark Bailey is a Registered Psychologist specializing in clinical neuropsychology. He has trained and worked in the Psychology Department at BC’s Children’s Hospital. He is a professional advisor to Choice School for Gifted Children and a Clinical Associate of the Simon Fraser University Clinical Psychology Centre. He specializes in assessing and developing treatments plans for children and adults whose difficulties may have a neurological basis.
Dr. Rick Miners, R. Psych.:
Rick is a Registered Psychologist licensed to practice in British Columbia. He is working in private practice as an associate with ABLE, located in Surrey. At ABLE, he specializes in the assessment and treatment of youth and young adults experiencing attention, behaviour, learning and emotional problems. Rick also provides family therapy and is active as a consultant to the French Education Authority of British Columbia, providing psychoeducational assessments for children with learning disabilities.
Rick’s academic qualifications include a B.C in psychology and a M.A. and Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Concordia University (Montreal). As a student he was the recipient of several fellowships, including awards from the Quebec Council for Social Research and the Fund of Researcher Training and Research Assistance. He has participated in research on parenting styles and pre-adolescent emotional well-being, development and social functioning. He has conducted research and is particularly interested in the emerging field of “mindfulness” — an approach to moment-to-moment experience found to reduce stress, regulate emotion and foster more effective interpersonal functioning.
In his work with organizations, Rick has assessed and coached executives and given presentation on a variety of mental health topics. He has lectured at the university level, co-authored a book chapter on social development, and is a former structural engineer who performed analysis and assured quality control.
Simon Bazett, R. Psych.:
Simon Bazett is a Registered and Practicing School Psychologist who specializes in the assessment and program planning for children and adolescents with intellectual, learning, behavioral and emotional challenges as well as training and experience in the assessment of gifted/high ability students.
Dr. Sophia Sandhu, R. Psych.:
Sophia Sandhu obtained her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pacific University in Forest Grove, OR. She provides evidence-based assessment and treatment for a variety of developmental, learning, behavioural, and emotional difficulties. In addition to community mental health and pediatric hospital settings, Sophia has also worked in a primary care medical setting, providing consultation services to parents with concerns related to behavioural and emotional functioning. Her approach to assessment and treatment involves a collaborative relationship with parents and children to ensure the family’s goals are being met. Treatment is provided from a behavioural and cognitive behavioural perspective.
Dr. Gelareh Karimiha, R. Psych.:
Dr. Gelareh Karimiha is a Registered Psychologist specializing in child and adolescent clinical psychology. She provides assessment and therapy for children and youth who are struggling with a range of anxiety disorders (e.g., obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), social anxiety, generalized worry, school refusal etc.) as well as depression and behavioural disorders. She also provides ADHD – and psychoeducational assessments. Gelareh has experience with a number of evidence-based approaches to treatment including cognitive behavioural therapy, dialectical behaviour therapy, interpersonal therapy and behavioural parent training. She has also co-facilitated a number of groups, including groups for children and teens with anxiety, groups for parents of children with OCD and a psychoeducational group for youth with somatization.
Dr. Claire Winson-Jones, R. Psych.:
Claire Winson-Jones is a registered psychologist who specializes in the assessment and treatment of children, adolescents, young adults and their families. Her focus is on the rights of clients and families and their needs to take a strength-based approach in treatment. Psychological assessments focus on the integration of personality, cognitive abilities, and vocational interests allowing young adults to achieve their education and career aspirations. Diagnostic assessment also include autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and specific learning disorders. Claire has worked with diverse populations including individuals diagnosed with Gender Dysphoria, individuals with history of trauma, and individuals with high risk behaviors. Her focus includes treatment for a variety of psychological conditions including anxiety, depression, intellectual disabilities, ASD and a variety of behavioral disorders. Intervention approaches are informed by both the evidence-based literature and the client’s personal characteristics to include relational therapies, cognitive behavioral therapies, mindfulness and social skill development.
Dr. Suresh Rajendran:
Suresh obtained his doctorate in educational psychology from the United States. He has nearly seven years of experience in delivering psychotherapy for mental health conditions such as anxiety, OCD, trauma and challenging behaviors like impulsivity, aggression, defiance, school refusal and overuse of screen/video games. He provides assessments and practical recommendations for children and adolescents who are experiencing learning and behavior difficulties at school and home. Before moving with his family to BC in 2015, Suresh held various clinical positions for one of the largest mental health service provider (Behavioral Health Network Inc.) in Massachusetts for seven years. Suresh uses integrated evidence-based psychotherapy models to tailor treatment for individual needs.
Shauna Loewen-Schmidt, M.A.:
Shauna completed a Master of Arts degree in School Psychology at Fresno Pacific University, California. Over the past 18 years she has practiced as a school psychologist in California, New Jersey and Virginia and currently works for a lower mainland school district. Shauna was a member of the regional autism assessment team in Virginia and the district evaluator for autism spectrum disorders. Shauna also specializes in assessment and diagnostic services for children and adolescents with developmental, learning, attention, and behavioural difficulties as well as evaluating for giftedness and high abilities. She has worked closely with school based teams to identify at-risk students, provide targeted interventions, monitor progress, and support families in navigating the complexities of the school system.

Bonnie Davis, MA, RCC (on maternity leave):
Bonnie Davis is a child and family counsellor with a Masters degree in counselling psychology and registered with the BC Association of Clinical Counsellors. She has a background in working with children and youth of all ages who face challenges in a variety of areas. Bonnie began working with children and youth with developmental disabilities in 2003 and has since expanded to focus on a wide range of mental health and behavioural concerns. Bonnie’s approach emphasizes interpersonal dynamics, including family connectedness, diversity within families and building on a child’s individual strengths. She has extensive experience working on site in client’s homes, which allows for a unique perspective and relationship to develop.
Speech Language Pathologists and Social Skills
Nicole Davies, MS, R.SLP (C)
Nicole received her Master of Science degree from the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Upon graduating she worked in elementary and junior high schools in Calgary, and with preschool aged children during the summer months. She has experience with the assessment and treatment of articulation, phonology, language, fluency, literacy, and social communication challenges in children. Her particular area of interest include working with children of all ages with delayed phonological development, literacy challenges, language delays and social communication deficits, including autism.
Kim Houlihan, MA, S-LP (C):
Kim Houlihan is a Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in the assessment and treatment of children experiencing difficulty with speech, language and social communication. She has extensive experience working with school-aged and preschool-aged children. Along with providing assessment and intervention services for typically developing children with speech and/or language delays, Kim provides a range of services for children with autism spectrum disorders. Kim is particularly interested in the social communication difficulties associated with nonverbal learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorder.
Jenny Sojat, MA, S-LP (C):
Jenny is a Registered Speech Language Pathologist who specializes in social communication. Jenny received her Master of Arts in Speech Language Pathology from The George Washington University in Washington, D.C.. Upon graduation, Jenny accepted a position in San Jose, CA at Teach Social,formerly known as Michelle Garcia-Winner’s Centre for Social Thinking. Brianna Rosenberg, M.A., S-LP (C) :
Brianna Rosenberg is a Registered Speech Language Pathologist. She received her Master of Arts in Speech Language Pathology from Western Washington University in Bellingham, Washington. Brianna completed her internship under the supervision of Jenny Sojat at the ABLE developmental clinic. She has experience working with preschool, school-aged, as well as adult populations. Her area of interests includes social communication, phonological development, articulation, and language development in children of all ages.
