ABLE’s Beginnings

In 1986 Dr Glen Davies partnered with a paediatrician in North Delta to offer psychological services to patients being referred to the paediatrician and who needed psychological intervention. Word of mouth soon had Dr. Davies inundated with families requesting his services.

A psychologist colleague, known for his experience with children with developmental disabilities, was invited to join the practice. When the paediatric office started bursting at the seams, the two psychologists moved out into their own office and ABLE Developmental Clinic was born.

Families come to the clinic looking for help for their children with developmental or behavioural problems.  Although ABLE services children and families with all kinds of difficulties, ABLE became know for its working with learning disabilities, ADHD, intellectual disabilities, disruptive behaviour, and autism spectrum disorders. ABLEDevelopmental Clinic has grown to three busy offices and over  40 Associates representing several professional disciplines.  Our associates have been carefully selected to deliver a broad range of professional services to children, youth and adults with neurodevelopmental disorders. Their specific areas of expertise direct the matching process which occurs when a family contacts the clinic and speaks with the clinic coordinator in Surrey, Debbie Rhead or in West Vancouver, Lael Hunter and in Richmond, Amanda Teynor.
